South Beaver Elementary School Reviews

This is my daughter's third year at South Beaver. I specifically chose this school for its diversity, magnet focus (academics, character, and technology), uniforms (only school in district to require them), and proximity to the local university for exposure to higher education and student teacher involvement. I could not have been happier with our choice. Teachers and the principal are amazing!

My son started kindergarten at Marshall and it was such a struggle, that year the class got shuffled with 5 different teachers. So I transferred him to South Beaver, a smaller school, but excellent principal and 1st grade teacher. There my son got the stability and attention he needed. He started out behind because at his previous year at Marshall but by mid-year had caught up and then was doing very well. I highly recommend this school!

My daughter has attended South Beaver since kindergarten. She has had a very positive school experience so far. She loves going to school. I feel that all her teachers and the principals are exceptional. They all strive to work with each student on their individual levels. Everyone is committed to teaching character, technology and quality academics.

My son is a second grader, he has attended since kindergarden. I can't say enough positive things for this school. The teachers and staff members of south beaver are exceptional and it is good to see a school were everyone including the costodians are all on the same page and level. Everyone one knows each other and the school atmosphere is very very postitive.

This is a very good school. The principals know all the kids names which is great.

My son went to this school for Kindergarten and First grade. I am very sad that I left the state and consequently this school. The teachers he had were amazing, the principal wonderful and very involved with the students and parents. The quality of education he received far exceeded my expectations of a public school in Flagstaff.

South Beaver is an excellent place for the education of your children! I love the family feel from all of the staff. They are traditional but still up with the times!

After having done much research into elementary schools the past 6 months I find it difficult to locate a school that comes even close to South Beaver. Their test scores fall right in line, if not a little higher than the schools in Phoenix--across the board. My experiences with both principal and teachers has been nothing less than excellent. They are supportive of not just a student's learning, but the parents as well. Its a tightly run, well oiled ship! The best part, they know each child by name, and the school is a nurturing supportive environment for all.

I don't dislike this school, but I feel that its need to improve in all areas of how the school is run is a big problem. Testing scores are low, although they have improved over the years they are still mediocre. I question what's going on within the school to make these scores so low. Funding in this school is very poor and I find that to be a shame. I don't have a problem with the teachers or the principal. I just have a problem with the quality of the overall school.

This school has a very caring and professional staff. They really make every child feel at home. The school strives to teach every child at their level and expects excellence from all children. The school is a model for others.

My daughter attended this school for kindergarten and 1st grade. Since moving, no school has met the standards this school set. My daughter was learning fractions and word problems in kindergarten. The teachers challenge the kids, yet create a stress-free environment, thus making it fun. There is a lower teacher-student ratio, so some grade levels have a waiting list, but it is worth the wait. Children are taught on the phonics system, so they learn how to spell, not just memorize the words. I hope to find a school like South Beaver in my current city.

classrooms in lower grades have a majority of ESL students. So far the curriculum doesn't seem as challenging to help students who are exceptional learners.
